Concierto a las Ballenas
Era el año 2005 y yo estaba buscando una idea para el Dia Nacional de la Ballena. Idea que se me ocurrió durante una reunion de la Fundación Avina en Puerto Pirámides, que cerró con un concierto sorpresa de la orquesta de Tango de Esteban Morgado. Cuando escuché a la banda tocando temas propios y de Astor Piazzola, inmediatamente los imagine tocando en un barco de avistajes brindando un concierto a las ballenas de nuestra musica nacional!
Le comenté la idea a mis amigos Lilly Roth y Gabriel Griffa y los tres empezamos a brindar por llevarla a la realidad. Finalizado el concierto, me acerqué a Esteban Morgado y le pregunté si le gustaría venir a tocar el 25 de Septiembre en el marco del Dia Nacional de la ballena. Me dijo que si, y no puedo explicar la cara de asombro que puso Esteban cuando le dije “Pero van a tocar desde un barco para las ballenas, nunca tuviste un publico tan grande!” ☺
El día llego, y la naturaleza nos regaló el mejor clima posible para la navegación. Los que estuvieron a bordo terminaron llorando por la emoción. Dos lanchas más se sumaron al Catamarán Pinino VII y las 3 lanchas amarradas flotando en el Golfo disfrutaron el espectáculo de Morgado y de las ballenas alrededor.
Y nada mejor que la música para homenajear a las ballenas, animales acústicos cuyos sonidos deleitan a la humanidad.
Ese concierto fue difundido en los noticieros de todo el mundo como “La Historia del Dia”, Argentina, España, Mexico, China, CNN de Estados Unidos fueron solo algunos de ellos. Mientras en otros paises las cazan, el concierto del 2005 nos permitió mostrarle al mundo cual es la relación que deseariamos que la humanidad tuviera con las ballenas y con el planeta: una relacion basada en amor, respeto, armonia, paz, contemplación y conexión con el medio y con los animales que lo habitan.
Hoy las ballenas enfrentan nuevos problemas además de la caza: océanos deteriorados, cambio climático, enfermedades emergentes debido a la contaminación marina mundial y el calentamiento global. Para mandarle al mundo un nuevo mensaje desde nuestro pequeño lugar, queremos organizar un nuevo concierto. Esta vez con un guitarrista reconocido, porque nuevamente apareció una imagen en mi mente, esta vez un guitarrista tocandole a las ballenas desde la proa de un barco. Y vamos a intentar llevar esa nueva idea a la realidad. Por favor voten en la encuesta, gracias!
Concert for the Whales
It was 2005 and I was looking for an idea to celebrate the National Whale’s Day. The idea came to my mind during a meeting of Avina foundation where we enjoyed a surprise concert of Esteban Morgado’s Tango orchestra. When I listened to them playing their and Astor Piazzola’s songs I immediately imagined them playing our national music (Tango) aboard a whale watching boat, for the whales!
I told the idea I just had to my friends Lilly Roth and Gabriel Griffa and the three of us started making toasts wishing we could make it happen.
Once the concert was over, I introduced myself to Esteban Morgado and asked him if his band would like to play on the National Whale’s Day. He said of course he would like to play in Puerto Piramides again, but he was astonished when I told him that he would play aboard a boat for the whales. “You never had such a huge audience!” I said
The day arrived and nature gifted us with the best possible weather for navigation. After a couple songs the people aboard the concert boat were crying of emotion. Two more boats appeared and stayed beside the Pinino VII enjoying the concert and the whales around.
And nothing better than music to pay homage to the whales, acoustic creatures whose sounds humans enjoy immensely!
The concert was spread on the TV News worldwide as the Story of the Day, Argentina, Spain, China, Mexico, US’s CNN are only some of them. While in other countries whales are hunted, the 2005 Tango Concert for the whales allowed us to show the world what kind of relationship with wish the human kind had not only with the whales but also with the planet: a relationship based in love, respect, harmony, peace, and connection with the environment and the animals.
Today whales face new problems apart from whaling: depleted oceans, climate change, emerging disease caused by the combination of the worldwide marine pollution and global warming. We would like to send the world a new message from our little place, organizing a new concert for the whales. This time I thought about a guitar player, that idea came to my mind and loved it!
